How does this place not have 5 stars??? This is the best place in town by a long shot. Mackinaws is freaking amazing! The food is fantastic! The prices super fair. The portions are great. The servers are all very nice and tentative. Love this place. Highly recommend to anyone in town. Go there, like today.

If you like salmon, you'll LOVE their Cedar Plank Salmon. The dill sauce on the side makes it perfect!

Great place to stop for dinner on our way up to Door County! Super friendly staff, great cheese curds, and free chocolate chip cookies! The owner even held the door for us on our way out!

One of the better places in GB. Good service every time we've been there, even with a large group. The menu has something for everyone. Love the decor. Good early unless you don't mind the wait. It's always packed on the weekend.

Mackinaw's has the look of a restaurant before RI went in for a make over. The North wood cabin theme is fairly popular starting in this part of the country, however this would be overkill. The waitress appeared quickly, but after that it took about twenty minutes for the drinks to be delivered. Ten minutes later we gave our order and it was another thirty minutes before the food arrived. It was busy so I'll give them some slack but the drink wait was a bit much. I had the perch with Rice Pilaf but the order arrived with a stack of fries. I told the waitress it should be Pilaf as she checked her order and agreed and then simply said, "they gave you fries." Hello!- Apologize and offer to correct the order, I shouldn't have to tell you. Three stars because the fish was tender and cooked the right amount of time, the drinks (when they finally arrived) seemed to please everyone. Others were satisfied with their orders.

I stopped on our way through town. The staff was all very friendly. Our waitress, Dana, was wonderful, kind, and very attentive/ accommodating. The food was reminiscent of an Applebee's, nothing I would rave on about, but filling. This is the type of place I would come with friends and enjoy the atmosphere of the lodge. The place is worth seeing, and the staff warranted the extra star and maybe an extra two.

Interesting decor, the restaurant is self seating. While looking for somewhere to sit one of the hostess asked me if I was looking for someone. Kind of made me laugh as there wasn't anyone nearby to be waiting for and dining alone is not a problem for me at all. I promptly choose a seat and asked the waitress for must haves and she suggested the cheese curds and buffalo burger. The cheese curds came with fries and the serving size was huge. Tasted good but having eaten at titletown brewery the day before they don't even compare. I ordered my buffalo burger medium well but it was well done but all in all the burger was ok. My server was attentive and I got 10% off via Yelp but if I am back in Green Bay, WI I wouldn't come back.

The service was great. Very friendly and attentive to the needs. Not sure what cheese curds are supposed to be but I assume these were average or possibly above, in my opinion they were ok. The walleye on the other hand was exceptional, served pan fried. I might consider asking for no breading although breading was good. Didn't get deserts but others at table did and the all loved them. Everything had a nice home cooked feel

I have been here a handful of times with friends and family and I rather enjoy this place. They have an excellent menu and large portion sizes. The burgers are huge and when ordered it came as requested (medium-well). The order of ribs came with so many sides I had to bring some of it home as left-overs. The only reason they did not get five stars is that the service can some times be lacking. The last time we went we had a waitress that never came to our table but to take our order and give us our bill.

The log cabin atmosphere, the friendly management and waitstaff, live music on weekends, and always a great meal. These are the things that keep us going back to MacKinaws's Grill and Spirits as regular customers.

Our first meal of the weekend turned out to be the best! Saw an ad in the GB travel guide and decided to give it a whirl and were definitely not disappointed. The price tag on the Cheese Curds seems high, until you realize the curds are awesome, and the bed of fries is pretty delicious too. Definitely worth the price. I got a burger that had pulled pork on top of it, and that's basically the way to my heart....right through my clogged arteries. The pulled pork could have been better, but the awesome burger quality and perfect bun for the burger hit the spot. Chips weren't nearly as good as the fries, I'd definitely go with the fries on my next visit. Service was great, live music was cool (don't see that enough anymore) and prices weren't bad. If we get up to GB again, we'll definitely be back!

The food here is great. I have been here at least 10-15 times over the years and every time its a little different. When you first arrive you will think this place is the typical Wisconsin diner due to the decor of animals all over the place, beer signs hanging on the wood cabin style walls. It is always clean and looks updated. There is ample seating, and the deck in summer is the best seat in the house! To start, the Brunch Buffet is great! Highly recommended. The food is always fresh, the service is great, and the variety is plentiful! They also have a custom Omelet bar where the chef will make an amazing omelet to you liking! This is a MUST!! Lunch is decent. Nothing special but not bad. The pricing is spot on and always a good deal. Dinner. There are 2 types of dinners here - Fish Fry, and then everything else. The fish fry is great. The have several different types of fish every time and meets every taste! They have a home made tartar sauce which is tasty and adds a little kick to the fish. The serving size is always big, and you not need to hit up Culver's as you leave. For regular dinner's the meals have been good. The burgers are, juicy, hot, and flavored well. Every time I have asked for a burger to be cooked differently, and never had it incorrect. The side options are good. I usually get the fries as they come out hot and seasoned well. The beer selection is fantastic and they have so many you wont have the same thing twice, unless you want to be plain like that! I have never had a meal not come out hot and quick... I will always come back here for a tasty meal, in a good fun environment.

Stopped in after a fail at Anduzzi's. Promptly seated. Drinks brought and orders taken quickly. Friendly service. Food was good -- enjoyed the loaded chips. Snagged 10% off just by checking in. Nice ambiance. Would return if ever in the neighborhood.

We were coming to Green Bay to Pick up a door at Menard's. It was close to supper time and the bill board with the giant hamburger on it got out attention. So we stopped to try the MacKinaw burger. Upon arrival we were greeted by a bear mounted on the wall and a sign that said, "Seat yourself." We sat in the bar area. Rustic is the word another Yelper uses to describe this place. That description is right on. The place reminds of a Paul Bunyan Restaurant. There are saws and lumber tools on the walls as décor. Now about that burger. The bartender took our order and our food was up in short order. This was a 1/2 pound burger char broiled to medium well perfection just as I ordered. The burger was juicy not greasy indicating it was made from a lean high quality meat. This masterpiece was served on a toasted bun with cheddar cheese, tomato, lettuce, and a pickle. This was an excellent burger which will now be listed in "Best Burgers" They also offer a buffalo burger for a few bucks more. I am looking forward trying that sometime. We'll be back again.

The Perch is always good, both the entrée size and the sandwich. Great tartar and coke slaw. Drinks have been strong, service has been pretty good, and the ambiance is terrific!

MacKinaw's was alright. Not horrible and not amazing. I stopped in here after spending a day on a plane and I was starving. It was recommended by the front desk clerk at my hotel and the only other option nearby was a Mexican joint...not gonna happen in Wisconsin. The restaurant reminded me of the place in movie The Great Outdoors where John Candy won his eating contest. There's antlers and axes all over the walls. I sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly. I asked if he would recommend a local brew. He recommended....wait for it...MacKinaws ale. It was good. I had a bison burger but coming from Colorado I thought the burger was just ok. I've had much better bison burgers back home. Like I said all in all it was alright. If I came into town again and was starving and staying at the same hotel, I wouldn't be opposed to going here again.

Will never understand the draw to this place. Food is mediocre and never cooked properly. If you like expensive food with black pepper dumped on it and dead things all around you it's probably for you.

Coolest interior design out of any restaurant in green bay. Ive been there about 15-20 times since opened and id say about 7-8 of them were complaint free meals. When it comes down to it. The scenery and up keep is a 9/10 and the food is a 5/10

We had a completely decent food with great service. The restaurant is perfect for families, we brought along our 9 month old daughter and didn't have any issues keeping her entertained or worrying that we would be a disruption to other guests. It was relatively noisy, and there were lots of other families there. I would recommend getting a reservation for busier nights (we didn't have one, and waited around 15 minutes).

First visit was an A-1 experience!! Decor is a welcoming Northwoods cabin. Wait staff was smiling and attentive (kudos, Heidi!) But the food was a real treat! Unique choices, well prepared and very generous portions! We have found a favorite in our new town!

I will always give this awesome restaurant a full five stars as I met my husband here for our first date! I also like the woodsy atmosphere and the wide variety of food on the menu! In addition to that, I think it's wonderful that both the owner, Pat and his son Kevin are almost always in the building and do rounds though the tables to make sure their guests are having a good meal. That is the kind of service I like, and what sets a place like this apart from the chains. I usually get the tenderloin steak sandwich with fries and a side salad and it's always cooked to perfection! The fries are crispy and hot without being too greasy, the bun the sandwich is served on is lightly toasted with butter, the cut of meat is tender with tons of flavor, and their French dressing doesn't taste like vinegar, as some of them do. Keep up the good work, Mackinaws!

Had a good lunch here! I was introduced to cheese curds here. . Before this place I've only had things similar to Wisconsin's cheese curds. Okay, so just the basket of fries with cheese curds alone is a lot! that would certainly be a good item to share or to snack on while drinking. I had the prime sandwich which honestly wasnt that good. the bread it was served on was so moist it literally fell apart into pieces. the prime rib itself was just really fatty. I totally thought it would have been sliced prime rib being served on a sandwich. Oh well, next time im in the area I will try something else on the menu. The place is really cool, and Im sure they will have something on the menu I will enjoy.

We eat here pretty often and most times I get the salmon with sweet potato fries. The dill sauce that they serve with the cedar planked salmon is a perfect accompaniment to the meal. The place is usually packed.

The first few times I came here I was impressed. However, the last three occasions I thought the food was so-so, wait was long, and very pricey. I feel their quality to value ratio slipped a lot since the first time I was there.

After a horrible experience at Fajita Grill, we decided to run out of there and get to Mackinaw's. We were not disappointed. Upon arrival, we were seated right away in a booth next to the fire. The server got to us right away, took our drink orders and went over the specials. It is a burger and fish type of place. I got the steak fajitas and the husband got the perch dinner. The fajitas were good but needed guacamole. The perch was amazing. The best part were the thick potato chips with ranch dressing. OMG. I could eat a whole plate of these by themselves. We will be back for the burgers next. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Rustic \Rus"tic\, n. 1. Coarse; plain; simple; as, a rustic entertainment; rustic dress. [1913 Webster] Yep. Rustic is the word I would use to describe Mackinaw's Grill. It's a big place made up to look like a northern hunting lodge with pictures of horses and pioneers on the walls, snowshoes, bear traps and other explorer type artifacts around, rough hewn pine log walls and about 6 fireplaces. And I can't forget the wall mounted Canadian Geese, Grizzly bear and Caribou. All this in a new, modern building. Not exactly my kind of place, but Mackinaw's Grill was there when I needed some food during a recent trip. And if the pine log walls aren't enough in the dining area- they've taken an actual log cabin, brought it inside and call it the Cabin bar. With 10 beers on tap and 11 TV's- this is a guy's guy place, for sure. And on the Sunday that I was there- it was packed with men watching the Packer game. Just a note on all that wood- the server told me that the wood actually came from the owners own farm- logs that they had grown from when they were children. If nothing else- I love stories like that! I was hoping to get brunch as it was touted to be amazing and only $10.99 for an all you can eat buffet. But since it was served from 10 - 2 and I was there toward the end- I thought it best to eat fresh food from the menu and not the steam table. The food had just been there too long for my taste. We were seated promptly and ordered lunch. We started with some artichoke dip served with pita chips and a cup of their chicken soup. Both were pretty good. Since I was still in the mood for breakfast- I ordered a ham and cheese sandwich on ciabatta bread. It was just okay. My friends had the raspberry chicken salad served with cornbread and it was definitely the better choice. Service was friendly and the prices were reasonable. Our bill for 4 was about $60. And if you like this sort of thing- you can buy bear statues and shirts with the restaurant's logo up front. Not exactly my kind of place. But if I lived in Green Bay and was looking for a "rustic" hunting lodge to hang out at without having to go into the north woods, Mackinaw's Grill is a pretty good second choice. And even better? They have electricity and running water! : )

Hands-down best service and food we have had in ages! The owner, Pat Quinn, personally visited our table. My husband had accidentally knocked something on the floor, and within a matter of seconds, our server (Erin) and one of the bussers came right over to clean it up and offered him a new drink. We will go out of our way to return and the staff and management should be commended. It was our server's last night after working for Mackinaw's for three years, which definitely says something about the culture.

For my 2nd and last dinner on this trip to GB, I was looking for a local, non-chain choice. I happened to glimpse the full parking lot, and pulled in to check out the menu. The outside motif included "northern woods", which was nicely done. The house special for seafood was advertised as perch; not a typical choice back home, so with a local draft I settled in to enjoy things. The beer was good, the baseball showed the local team instead of my fave Reds, and the food was served well before I became worried. What brought my rating down was 1) the waitstaff left the extra place setting, and menu, on the table throughout the meal; 2) there was justifiable skepticism on my part about calling the fish "lightly" fried; 3) the waitstaff did not check back with me after I began eating (nor could I seem to catch her attention; and 4) the manager was going around, greeting some guests at the tables, but I didn't catch his eye. The server didn't seem overly stressed at the number of people in her station, but the meal was a disappointment. Yes I could have made a scene about it, but really, should a patron ever have to? Being the only single diner in sight, it did seem that the crowd was local, repeat guests, who were enjoying themselves. Lastly, could a local person who reads this, please explain the significance of the fish being plated on a slice of rye bread, with small strips of raw onion on lettuce as a side. Not criticizing, but ignorant.

Mackinaw's is the kind of place that I wish was somewhere in the Puget Sound. I was taken here by my uncle who had a gift certificate and really likes the place. It was a Sunday, during peak brunch time, and was quite busy. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. We opted to order lunch off the menu as opposed to going up to the brunch buffet. I went with the tenderloin sandwich with the bakers chips. I was expecting sliced tenderloin and was pleasantly surprised to see a bun with the whole friggin steak on there! Awesome! It was good - could have used some seasoning on the steak though. But to get a tenderloin cut for $12? Can't complain at all about that! Server was kind of iffy. She forgot about the cole slaw that my mother had ordered, as well as my uncle's soup. Refills on my drink were slow. Given the "help wanted" signs in the window and on the larger changeable sign outside the restaurant, I think they might be lacking a bit of experience in this area. Bottom line - decent food and reasonable prices. I'd have no problem returning here on my next visit to Green Bay.

Nine of us went for dinner on Friday night there. We had called ahead and we sat right down. I went around the table and everyone at the table gave their meal a 3 1/2. Good food, but not great. The portions were generous and almost everyone left food on their plate. The service was very good and we got free chocolate chip cookies. Yeah!

Wow, can't believe that I am the first to review this place. I have had several meals here while visiting my daughter in Green Bay and have never been disappointed. Today's visit was for the $10.99 buffet brunch. Now seriously, $10.99? Absolutely outstanding! All of your favorite breakfast items, including omelets cooked to order. Fresh cut melons, pancakes, breakfast burritos and home fries. Chef cut prime rib slices and baked ham. $10.99?? Excellent service as well? A home run in all respects.

Best brusheta in town, had great food and great service. I am very picky as my wife is a great cook, so I am hard to pleases when spending money. I like sitting outside, had a very nice waitress ( Ivette) had a great time I will be going back

Go Pack!! Watching the Packer game in this Green Bay bar/restaurant seemed to make a whole lot of sense since we were on the road heading north. The fettucine alfredo was tasty and light. The burger was good. Not great but good. The service was odd. We started with a waitress wearing a Jay Cutler jersey. We had at least two other servers the rest of the night. Okay service. Seems like a good place to drink for a game. Food is good. Not one of those places you will crave but it probably won't let you down.

I get to taste Mackinaw's several times a year when I visit my dad up in Green Bay, it's a good restaurant just off of I-43 as you enter the city. Perhaps I will return and try more of the meaty choices like buffalo and steak, but in my meals here I haven't been particularly impressed. The seafood has been dry and bland, and most things just okay. Even for a down-home Wisconsin place, I admit that they have some of the better cheese curds I've tasted yet!

no way. food is mediocre at best. Service STINKS. Waited over an hour when we were told half an hour wait. Over charged at bar. Seems to always be crowded but I don't get it. Come on Green Bay - too many really good new places to go to. Try SALT in De Pere, Blue in De Pere, Red in Green Bay or Rustique in Howard/Suamico area. No way would I go back here.

I have been to Mackinaw's a couple times; however, the last time i went it wasn't as pleasant as the first. It was a Friday night at around 6 when we went. We had no reservation and had to wait for 45 mins to get a table. The table that we got was right next to the fireplace, at first it was nice after STANDING in the entrance for 45 mins. But by the end of the night both me and my date were very uncomfortable. The wait staff was a little slower but the food was good.

$10.00 buffet brunch doesnt sound like a bad deal - I wasnt aware of that special. I'll check it out. Other than (perhaps) that though, there is really no reason to go to this place. The decor is awful, and the food is mediocre - yeah it's cheap - but you get what you pay for.
